And The House Was Theirs!

“Starting over in a brand new place” – Now You See Them

So yesterday we closed on our little mid century brick ranch!

We’re Barb and John. We live in Asheville NC and this is our second house here in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. Our first house was a 4000 square foot home we shared with my mother and brother. Life happens and we found ourselves in that big ole house by ourselves. We then shared it with some close friends but the house was just too much. We sold it, rented for a few months and now we have a little 1300 square foot house. Yay for small houses!

Our attempt with this blog is to chronicle our transformation of this little ranch house from a fixer upper to a house that is ours; our style, our personality, our home. We’ve worked on houses before but not on this scale. We will be transforming the interior, exterior and figuring out what we will do with our 3/4 of an acre. We’d love to hear from you as we make our way through this great big project.

Welcome!

  1. Congrats John and Barb!!!!!! This is sooooo exciting 🙂 I cant wait to see the projects you take on. What a rewarding way for settling into your own home — by making it your own with remodeling projects 🙂 Did you go with the home in Weaverville?

  2. Congratulations Barbara and John!! It was a lot of fun searching for your new home together and I am glad we found one with so much potential that has a huge yard and is walkable to town. Am looking forward to following your remodel journey and let me know if you need any help. Happy Holidays!

  3. Congratulations, Barb and John! I live in a ’50/’60 era ranch too. I am looking forward to see what you will do with yours. On the 3/4 acre part, I recommend blueberry bushes (if you like blueberries!) A few plants go a long way and it is always fun to pick your own.
    Congrats again!
